A CALL FOR MUSIC!

Updated: Mar 30

The Christadelphian Advocate Digital Media, 2020

Intent:

Whether we are young or old, in a large ecclesia or in isolation, experiencing trials or great joy, there is always good reason to express our adoration and dependence of the Lord through music and song. To that end, the Advocate would like to create a Christadelphian music library that will be made freely available via https://www.christadelphianadvocate.org/. If you would like to share music that you have produced with us, we would welcome your submissions (see below)!

Important Notes:

We are looking for various types of music:

A) Hymns for meeting are first on our list! We would like to create a playlist of hymns for small or isolated ecclesias who may not have a musician among them.

NOTES: for this category, we are looking for hymns played as they are on the page, without added key changes or additional musical flourishes. While we encourage a thoughtful performance on the part of the musician, we are looking to minimize unscripted musical elements that may create irregularities that might confuse a vocalist’s timing, or create difficulties for an audience that does not read music.

We are looking for hymns from any of the past Christadelphian Hymn books, regardless of how new or old. We ask that these hymns be played on piano, keyboard, or organ to keep with how Christadelphians have traditionally experienced these hymns.

B) Hymns for listening are another category that we’d like to make available for listening at home or abroad, outside of Sunday morning meeting.

NOTES: for this category, we are looking for hymns played (or sung) stylistically with emotion and flourish, as in a classical music performance, and they should still be recognizable as the sourced hymn.

As before, we are looking for hymns from any of the past Christadelphian Hymn books, regardless of how new or old. We leave it to the discretion of the artist to determine their instrumentation for this category- Piano, keyboard, strings, brass, or vocals would all be acceptable.

C) Spiritual Songs & New Hymns. We know that some Christadelphians enjoy writing and composing music of their own, following in the tradition of the psalmists in Scripture. We believe that building and adding to the repertoire of music that Christadelphians use is of great value.

NOTES: for this category, we are looking for songs or new hymns played (or sung) stylistically with emotion and flourish, as in a classical music performance. We leave it to the discretion of the artist to determine their instrumentation for this category- Piano, keyboard, strings, acoustic guitar, brass, or vocals would all be acceptable. If you have created sheet music or lyrics for your work, please include these with your submission!

D) Spiritual Music for Kids. We are looking for music and songs that children will enjoy singing in Sunday School or in everyday life that will help them praise God and facilitate their Biblical education!

NOTES: for this category, we are looking for songs played (or sung) stylistically with emotion and flourish, in a way that appeals to kids. We leave it to the discretion of the artist to determine their instrumentation for this category- Piano, keyboard, strings, acoustic guitar, or vocals would all be acceptable. If you have created sheet music or lyrics for your work, please include these with your submission!

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK: Submitting is easy!
